Padiddle

The game Padiddle is believed to have started in the mid-20th century as a way to pass the time on long car journeys. Its origins are somewhat murky, but it likely began with teenagers looking for a simple and fun activity to keep themselves entertained while driving around. Spotting a car with a single burned-out headlight, or “padiddle,” became the trigger for a playful ritual, which varied by region and group.

This collection of single-headlight photographs is my tribute to the quirky and nostalgic driving game that brings a sense of adventure to the open road.
